Corporate Real Estate Department

Since its founding in 1456, the University of Greifswald has been owner of large areas of forest, agricultural land and residential property. Several buildings and their premises which are used by the University and University Medicine Greifswald (public corporation) belong to the University of Greifswald’s (public corporation) corporate assets. The University’s Corporate Real Estate Department and Forest Administration Department are responsible for the administration, use and management of these extensive assets which are not being used directly for research and teaching purposes.

Apart from the management of the corporate land, the Department’s tasks include contract management with third parties, help in the preparation of the corporate budget and the creation of detailed proposals and statements for the various University bodies.

The income generated by the Corporate Real Estate Department and the Forest Administration Department is integrated into the University of Greifswald’s (public corporation) budgetary funds to support research and teaching. Therefore, the University of Greifswald (public corporation) is very interested in preserving the profitability of the University’s corporate assets, today and in the future. Furthermore, the Department cooperates with various other departments and chairs as part of research projects and teaching.
