At the University of Greifswald’s Faculty of Law and Economics there is, subject to budgetary regulations and in the context of a job substitution, a job vacancy that is expected to be available by 1 March 2025, for a full-time
Teaching Assistant.
The fixed-term position is limited until 31 December 2028. Payment will be made according to pay group 13 TV-L Wissenschaft. The post is also suitable for part-time employment.
Job description:
- Academic services mainly in teaching (currently planned: 18 classes (LVS) à 45 min. in accordance with LVVO M-V); this includes
- Conception, planning and implementation of subject-specific English language courses in economics and law degree courses, including courses leading to the Greifswald Certificate in English for Legal Purposes
- Associated examinations in the subject English
- Development of alternative course formats such as blended learning scenarios and the use of AI in subject-specific foreign language teaching
- Design and use of digital examination formats
Job requirements:
- Postgraduate degree in modern languages and / or their teaching, applied linguistics or equivalent degree (master's, Magister, Staatsexamen) and / or in one of the subjects for which the technical language is to be taught by the time employment begins
- First language English or very good knowledge of English at C2 level CEFR
- Several years of teaching experience at university level in the areas of general and/or specialist English, preferably in the fields of economics or law
- Experience in using technology/new media in foreign language teaching, e.g. with teaching and learning platforms such as Moodle
- Ability to work independently and in a team, commitment and flexibility
- German language skills at least at B2 level
Additional desirable abilities and qualifications
- Training in foreign language didactics, TESOL or equivalent
- Experience in the creation of blended learning concepts and their implementation in synchronous and asynchronous digital teaching
- Experience in the application of AI in (subject-specific) foreign language teaching
- Intercultural competence
