Around 240 students applied for a Deutschlandstipendium this year. Criteria for the allocation of a scholarship are not only excellent study achievements, but also engagement in society and social activities, as well as overcoming personal restrictions and hurdles related to certain life situations.
During the ceremony, Ulrich Wolf, the Chairman of Sparkasse Vorpommern, and scholarship holder Pia Hemkemeier spoke about their experiences with the grant. Pia is studying Health Care Management.
A Deutschlandstipendium amounts to 300 euros per month and is granted for a period of at least one year. Half of the sum is provided by the Federal Government. The University raises the remaining amount from businesses, foundations, societies and private individuals.
