This year, 186 students applied for a Deutschlandstipendium. Criteria for the allocation of a scholarship are not only excellent study achievements, but also engagement in society and social activities, as well as overcoming personal restrictions and hurdles related to special life situations.
During the ceremony, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dr. Sabine Kunst, representing the Joachim Herz Foundation, and the scholarship holder Broder Poschkamp spoke about their experiences with the scholarship programme. Broder Poshkamp is studying Human Medicine.
A Deutschlandstipendium scholarship amounts to € 300/month and is granted for a period of at least one year. Half of the sum is provided by the Federal Government. The University raises the remaining amount from companies, foundations, societies and private individuals.
