Procedure

Ten steps to studying abroad as an Erasmus+ exchange student

  1. Go for an initial consultation session at the International Office or talk to an advisor at your department.
  2. Get acquainted with the courses and modules on offer and the academic timetable at your preferred host institution by searching our exchange programme database [de].
  3. Talk to your Erasmus+ departmental exchange coordinator about subject-specific issues, such as credit transfer arrangements, and contact the Erasmus+ team at the International Office for advice on any other questions that you may have.
  4. Send your application to your Erasmus+ departmental exchange coordinator (information on submission deadlines are available at the department). Note: Applications must be submitted during the winter semester for placements in the following academic year (incl. summer semester starts).
  5. Your Erasmus+ departmental exchange coordinator will review the applications received and notify the International Office about which candidates have been nominated.
  6. Complete the Erasmus+ application form provided by the International Office. Relevant information will be sent to you by email.
  7. Your nomination will be forwarded to the partner university. For students wishing to start an exchange placement in the winter semester, this will happen between March and May. Nominations of students who wish to start their exchange placement in the summer semester will be forwarded  between September and November.
  8. Submit your application to the host university. Relevant information will be sent to you by email.
  9. Submit all the relevant documents for Erasmus+ funding to the International Office. For more information, please go to the page ‘Forms Erasmus+ Studies’.
  10. A letter of admission will be sent to you by the host university.

Have a great time on your study exchange adventure!
